What Is a Network Railcard?

The Network Railcard provides a 1/3 discount on most UK rail fares for those who are travelling in the South-East of England and London.

Network Railcards are only £30 for one year. There is no limit on the number of times during the one-year validity period. What's more, the average annual savings can be up to £122.

The Network Railcard is ideal for regular travellers in the South-East of England and London, including commuters working in Off-Peak times or group trips.

This Railcard provides discounts on Anytime, Off-Peak tickets and more. You can travel from any time on weekends and bank holidays and from 10 am Monday to Friday.

Network Railcard Restrictions

The Network Railcard offers a 1/3 discount on most Off-Peak rail fares for travel across the UK. Below, you will find information on tickets, time restrictions, and the cheapest fares available. Take a look to plan your travel accordingly:

A cheapest fare of £13 applies to all journeys made from Monday to Friday, except on bank holidays. And the cheapest fare for Anytime Day Travelcards is £22.60 at all times.

    Whether a Network Railcard or a 26-30 Railcard is better depends on your specific travel needs and circumstances. Here are some key points to consider:

    Coverage: The Network Railcard offers discounted travel across a larger area, including the South-East of England and London. The 26-30 Railcard is valid for travel across the entire National Rail network.

    Age restrictions: The Network Railcard is available to anyone aged 16 and over, while the 26-30 Railcard is specifically for individuals aged 26 to 30.

    Discount rates: The Network Railcard provides a 1/3 discount on Off-Peak fares, including for up to four adults travelling with the cardholder and up to four children aged 5-15 who receive a 60% discount. The 26-30 Railcard offers a 1/3 discount on most rail fares for the cardholder only.

    The cost of them are the same as £30 for a year, however, the ticket restriction of Networks Railcards is more than 26-30 Railcards, including First Class and Advance tickets. Therefore, you should choose the railway card that suits your needs.

    Eligibility: Anyone aged 16 or over can purchase a Network Railcard.

    Coverage: The Network Railcard provides discounted travel within the South-East of England and London. It allows you to travel from any time on weekends and bank holidays and from 10 am Monday to Friday.

    Discount rates: With a Network Railcard, you can enjoy a 1/3 discount on eligible Off-Peak fares. This discount applies to the cardholder and up to 3 adults travelling with them. Additionally, up to 4 children aged 5-15 can travel with the cardholder at a 60% discount.

    Validity: The Network Railcard is usually valid for one year from the date of purchase. What’s more, you can travel unlimited times from 10 am Monday to Friday, and any time on weekends and bank holidays within the South-East of England and London.

    Ticket restrictions: The discounted fares are typically available for Off-Peak travel. They cannot be used for First Class, Season and Advance tickets. You can refer to ‘Network Railcard Restrictions’ for specific restrictions.

    Purchasing: You can purchase a Network Railcard on Trp.com app or at a staffed train(London and the South-East of England) for a whole year.

  • Where does a Network Railcard cover?

    A Network Railcard covers London and the South-East of England for a year.
  • How many can travel with a Network Railcard cover?

    You can travel with up to three adults and they will also get up to 1/3 off their rail fare. Plus, you can take up to four children (aged 5 to 15 years) with you and save 60% on each child fare. What’s more, you are free to take kids under 5 years old.
  • When can I use my Network Railcard?

    When you are aged 16 and above, you can get 33% off for a year. Specifically, Do travel from 10:00 am Mondays to Fridays and at any time on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
  • Can you add a Network Railcard to an Oyster card?

    No. You cannot add a Network Railcard to an Oyster card. However, discounted tickets purchased for cross-London rail journeys that involve travel on the London Underground are permitted.
  • Can you use the Network Railcard on the London Underground?

    No. You cannot purchase Network Railcard discounted tickets for journeys solely on the London Underground and Docklands Light Railway. However, discounted tickets purchased for cross-London rail journeys that involve travel on the London Underground are permitted.
  • Can I get a discount on Season tickets with a Network Railcard?

    No. A Network Railcard will not give you discounts on Season tickets, including Travelcard Season tickets.
  • Can I use my Network Railcard to buy tickets for other people?

    Yes, You can use your Network Railcard to buy tickets for others. Please note the whole journey only includes 4 adults aged 16 and above, and 4 children aged 5-15 at most. All passengers taking advantage of the Network Railcard discount must travel with the Railcard holder throughout the entire journey.
