Actually, the location is a bit remote, which is tolerable, but the biggest problem is that the front desk English is not good, and there were very serious and basic errors in communication. The group was Spanish-speaking and I spoke English, which delayed things. I met two or three people and the communication was not smooth. I would not recommend it

The hotel is in a great location. There is a large shopping mall and supermarket within a 10-minute walk. It is very convenient for eating and shopping. This area is relatively clean and safe. The people in the hotel are very friendly and nice.

The Portón Medellín is less than a 5 minute walk away from the Santa Fe Mall, which is massive. Upon first glance of the room, you can tell that the hotel is a quick fixer upper. The building is aged with a few modern upgrades. Nonetheless, it was a livable space. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good with various hot and cold options. Some foods were mislabeled - i.e. The waffles were labeled pancakes. - so be careful and ask questions before placing food on your plate, especially if you have dietary restrictions. Initially, I was turned off by the fact that my cousins (group of 5) and I asked for to be placed on the same floor, meaning at least 2 of us on the same floor, but the representative at the desk lied and said that all of the rooms were occupied, which left one of my cousins left alone on the top floor. Overall the service was decent and the staff were accommodating.

On first glance the Hotel appears nice but once I took a shower I could see electric sparks next to me!!!!! I spoke to the reception who didn't care!!!! I then spoke to the Manger who advised that I could move Hotels if I wasn't happy!! I declined the offer as I was only there for a few days and didn't want the inconvenience of moving Hotels. The following day when I was showering I received a huge Electrical shock which left me on the floor in a agony!!!! I spoke to the the Manager and basically got the same response, if you want to move Hotel you are free to!!!!

Second stay at this hotel, great staff nice rooms. The updated room I stayed in on second visit was very nice. The location to the big malls which were a short walk away was nice. This was a very safe are, I went out at night and never had any issues with anybody approaching me. Thanks Porton staff you were all great!!

We found this hotel on the internet and didn’t know much about the area, since it was our first time in Medellin, but to our surprise, this was a great hotel with a cozy and nice restaurant. Our room was big and comfortable, with great city views. Service was outstanding and location excellent. If we visit Medellin again, we will definitely stay there.

It is very close to the Santafe shopping mall like within 5 minutes walk. And our room had a lot of sun in the morning, which I felt really good. But the chair was a bit low for the office desk so that I felt a little uncomfortable. Their main restaurant was a bit small compared to the number of the rooms. I think it would be better if the cook at the iron plate made fried eggs & omelets instead of buttered arepas.
