I think the up in Regent Hotel is only the service in two restaurants (Daccapo Italian Restaurant and Jinbao 99), we had a course dinner in Daccapo, and Hotpot set in Jinbao 99. The service and atmosphere in Daccapo were fine, and the taste of the foods was amazing, especially the buns and desserts,(but the so-called Boston lobster linguine with truffle was not worth it as added RMB $150). Also, the buffet breakfast was great in JinBao 99(the Hotpot set for dinner was just fair I think), all of the food was not bad, and the service was good, especially the supervisor Ms Doreen, who is friendly and talkative. Hopefully, they can keep it on.
The downs are the rooms, and the services in reception, swimming pool and lobby. The room was quite outdated, and the most unacceptable and super crazy was you couldn't adjust the room temperature to below 24 Celsius, really hot and stuffy, and we couldn't sleep well all the nights we stayed, though opened up the windows(I never opened up the windows in a hotel until this time), but we didn't know where the heating comes from, still keeps warm and stuffy. Also, we called for one more chair, and they sent a chair which was quite filthy, with all the dust in it(you can see the pics). The service in lobby reception and the pool was poor, they had "bad face" all the time, no smiles, to be honest, the pool itself is not bad, but some people who use the pool which is not the hotel guest and no service in the pool and wellness area. Also, we talked to the lobby receptionist about the problems in the room, she said they would sort it out for us but finally they did nothing about it, obviously, she lied to us.
When we checked out, I told the manager about this, she said all the hotels in Beijing are the same regarding the heating problem, but I want to tell her, it doesn't, at least Four Seasons doesn't. And the room is much better than the Regent Hotel.
All in all, just fair, not the global 5-star standard, hopefully, they can rebuild or renew the rooms, and improve the services.
